Theater Bartlesville rolls out red carpet

Theater Bartlesville is hosting a sold-out benefit screening of director Terrence Malick's new film “The New World” at 7 p.m. Dec. 26 at the Eastland Four Theater, 530 S.E. Washington Boulevard.

A post-party will be held immediately following the screening at Theater Bartlesville, 312 S. Dewey. There will be champagne and hors d'oeuvres, and an opportunity to meet Q'Orianka Kilcher, who plays Pocahontas, as well as others involved in the making of the film. A question and answer session will be fielded by Kilcher.

“It is a really big event for Bartlesville,” said TB Executive Director Judy McGlasson. “We at Theater Bartlesville are very honored to be able to host this huge event. We are so excited and have really been working on this since September.”

Tickets sold rapid-fire at Theater Bartlesville for $30 each as soon as word got out about the screening. Attendees are asked to retain ticket stubs to attend the post-party.

New Line Cinema's “The New World,” starring Colin Farrell, Christian Bale and Christopher Plummer, is an epic adventure set amid the encounter of European and Native American cultures during the founding of the Jamestown settlement in 1607. Inspired by the legend of John Smith, acclaimed filmmaker Malick transforms the classic story into a sweeping exploration of love, loss and discovery, both a celebration and an elegy of the America that was and the America that was yet to come.
